Srushti Dehmukh began preparing for UPSC when she was in her third year of her engineering degree. She questioned whether engineering was an appropriate career path for her. The answer became more clear after she began focusing on the civil work. Her parents encouraged her to focus on civil rights and get an employment that would benefit the general public. She was motivated and determined to become an IAS officer. You need to put in more effort to achieve UPSC. While she was studying for her engineering classes and other classes, she also used to study for different subjects of UPSC. Everyday she carved out time for exam preparation. She spent only one month preparing for the exam and was completely off of the internet and social lives. Her belief is that staying focused only on the work at hand is the key to passing this test. She wanted to pass this exam on the first go and put in a lot of work. She would read the newspaper to keep up-to-date on current affairs every day.
